RE: Network Maintenance Notice --- September 3rd, 2003

Dear SecureWebs Customer:new Cisco Edge Routers

The network upgrade last 24th went as planned and did not interrupt service.  There is a new upgrade scheduled this Monday at approximately 5:00PM PST.

We are upgrading the edge router - the one piece of equipment that connects the SecureWebs network to the various backbones comprising the Internet - without a doubt the most important device we operate.  In this case we have a new Cisco router that should increase our edge router strength by several times.  It also features twice the memory to store more routes and has the newest IOS installed on it.  In short, it is beautiful - at least to those who can get excited about silicon and "packets per second" and all that cutting-edge big-iron wire-speed stuff.

Because of the complexity of configuring the routers the delicate work is done in advance with a lot of planning and caution.  We will of course have the old router on hand if we need to back-off and reschedule should the install not go smoothly.  It will interrupt service for a very brief time - we hope you will not even notice but it will bounce chat sessions and other applications that maintain a constant connection.

We appreciate your patience in this matter and believe you will be pleased with our efforts to increase the networks speed and reliability.

Regards,

The SecureWebs Staff
